Moving into your home

Moving into your new home is an exciting time, amidst the fracas of packing, checking you have everything you need and preparing for the move, you may have forgotten some of the equally important - but maybe less obvious - tasks that you should complete when moving house.

Don't forget...

Once you know the address of your new home you should contact all organisations you have connections with and inform them of your change of address. This can be more time consuming than you first imagination and to help we have provided a shortlist of contacts you should inform of your change of circumstances to:

  • Your bank
  • Your gas, electricity and water suppliers
  • Your telephone and/or mobile phone supplier
  • Your broadband supplier
  • The TV Licensing Agency Opens a new window
  • The DVLA Opens a new window
  • The Electoral Register
  • Council Tax Office Opens a new window
  • Any postal links you may have - such as ordering from online retailers or accounts with catalogues
  • Your childs school and your place of work
  • Your friends and family
