What is the North Lincolnshire Homes Decent Homes Standard?

  • Central heating boilers renewed every 15 years.
  • Heating systems (radiators and pipework) renewed every 30 years.
  • Properties rewired where the wiring is over 30 years old and substandard – to ensure that there are adequate power points.
  • Windows and doors renewed if they are 20 years old or single glazed.
  • Properties insulated to a high standard to maximise energy efficiency.
  • Bathrooms renewed if they are over 30 years old with a modern bathroom suite with shower and choice of tiling, vinyl flooring and paint colours. An extractor fan will also be fitted.
  • Kitchens renewed if they are over 20 years old or lack and have adequate space for storage and the preparation of food. A choice of styles colours of units will be offered. An extractor fan will also be fitted along with tiling, viynl flooring and wall paints.
  • Renewal of roofing if it is over 70 years old or in a poor condition chimneys will be repaired or removed during roofing works.
  • Replacement of gutters and fascias that are over 20 years old.
  • Free from structural defects that effect the soundness and stability of a home.
  • Free from damp and water penetration.
  • Hard wired smoke detectors Included in the rewiring programme.
  • Adequate lighting in communal areas.
  • Closure of ‘rat runs’ to promote defensible space.
  • Controlled entry systems for communal entrances.
  • Improved access to communal entrances.
  • Fencing to create defensible Spaces.
  • Improved car parking provision.
  • Improvements to the environment and landscape.
